Difficult cases need experienced surgeons

Tuberous breast deformity is a tough problem and requires a carefully planned approach. Even with the best planning and execution, you can still wind up requiring multiple operations. Be sure you choose someone who has done this type of surgery before and is able to handle the problems that can arise from this type of operation.

Botox effects are variable - but mostly 2-3 months

Botox has a variable effect on each patient. Some patients get 2-3 months of effect; some it lasts longer and some need higher treatment doses. It depends on you and it depends on the technique, but most patients get a good effect with an experienced practioner.

Tummy tuck recovery

Recovering from a tummy tuck is different for everyone since everyone pretty much gets a custom operation. In general, though, the recovery takes about 1-2 weeks before heading back to work. Then there are several phases to the recovery that ultimately takes about 6-8 weeks for the initial major recovery and then by 3-6 months, full recovery.

To tuck or not to tuck

The abdomen that may need a tuck, but does not have enough skin is a dilemma for the plastic surgeon. I typically lean toward aggressive liposuction of the upper abdomen with lower abdominal skin excision and endoscopic muscle tightening.

SMAS facelift techniques

Folding of the SMAS is a way to help augment the cheeks while performing the facelift. The question of when to fold and when to excise is determined on a case by case basis. No one face is the same as another so it is a judgement call. I prefer SMAS flap with trimming of the flap. Some folks just do an excision. Some plicate. In the end, it all seems to do about the same if the surgeon is experienced and routinely gets great results.

"Branded" lifts and minilifts

There has been a big move toward 'mini-lifts' and 'lifestyle this or that' and other named lifts. For some, this is the answer. Usually, this works best for someone who does not really need a facelift. However, the result you have is inadequate. Need to go back and get those jowls moving. Or see someone else for a second opinion.

Nasal airway obstruction treated with spreader grafts

I do like spreader grafts for both the inverted V-deformity and for widening of the internal valve so that your breathing is improved. However, you may not need surgery if it is more airway complaints. It could be the turbinates that need shrinking or that the mucosa is reactive and you need an inhaled nasal steroid. I would see a revision rhinoplasty specialist in your area to be sure.

Rhinoplasty- Plastic Surgery

You have been told that you need to have Rhinoplasty surgery and you are unsure of what is involved. Now you need to learn about this type of surgery, and what is going to be involved in the process. You will need to find out the length of time for recovery, and how much pain and suffering is involved.

Most of your initial questions can be answered by the doctor or by his nurse while you are in the office. At the time you are there you may not know all of the information you need but the doctor will help you to understand what is going to happen. They will do their best to answer the questions that you do have and will reassure you that they will be there when you think of more.

  • The first question you will have is what caused this, how did it happen.

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure necessary for several different reasons. Many people suffer severe allergies that will cause infections, or even cysts, in the sinus cavities, which could lead to the blockage of the openings into the nose. Or perhaps intense sneezing that could result in a deviated septum, When this occurs a physician will recommend rhinoplasty to clear the sinus cavities, enlarge the openings and repair the deviation. Barring complications, this type of surgery is done on an outpatient basis. The patient is put to sleep and will generally leave the hospital or clinic within twenty four hours.

Perhaps your need for surgery is the result of an injury of some kind. Either an accident or sports injury that has damaged the position or functionality of the nose. In this case, usually under the care of a plastic surgeon, surgery would be recommended to reconstruct the nose. Restoring the full usefulness of the nose as well as making it more pleasing to look at.

Mother nature is not always kind to people, either. People may not be born with the type of nose that suits the way their face is put together. In situations like that, surgery could become an option. When a persons looks become their way of making a living, as in the case of actors or public speakers, it is more of a necessity than an option in their minds. With the creative influence of a good plastic surgeon all of the bends and twists can be straightened, lengthened, or even tipped, to achieve the look they would like to present to the public.

Rhinoplasty has a good history, so you can be sure that it is a safe procedure. Reconstructive surgery has been around since about 800 BC. Since that time it has been used for remodeling not just noses, but earlobes, genitalia and other body parts. Procedures have been perfected rendering this type of surgery almost commonplace.

Over the last several centuries there have also been attempts to perform non-surgical corrections. At times doctors have used paraffin and there have been tests with silicone gels. These, however, proved to be not only ineffective but actually harmful to the patient. Collagen is a possible alternative that is being used in studies, showing a few side effects and complications.

  • The recovery time for rhinoplasty surgery depends on the doctor and the type of surgery you have had.

If the doctor is cleaning your sinus cavities, enlarging the openings in the nasal passages and straightening a deviated septum there is usually a two week window on being back to normal. Surgery is done with lasers so there are no open incisions to heal, splints will be installed in the nasal passage to ensure they stay open, and all you have to do is remember not to sneeze. After seven to ten days the doctor will remove the splints and you will feel like you have a new nose again, ready to smell everything.

In most instances, by not having the surgery, you are only giving yourself more discomfort than you need to. When your septum is deviated you are not breathing properly. This is not only a daytime, but a nighttime, problem. If you can not breathe well it will begin to affect your sleeping and your general health. You will suffer more nose and throat infections as a result of the possible infection already in the sinus cavities.

All of these are questions that your doctor or his staff will be able to answer for you. They will help to clarify any other issues that might arise because of your particular condition, while you are making your decision on whether rhinoplasty surgery is an necessary in your case.

Tips On Making Your Plastic Surgery A Success...

A lot of people today want to change the way they look and there are various procedures that can help with this. If you have a part of your body that you are not happy with you might be interested in surgical options, i.e. plastic surgery. This is a very large step but one that many people are taking week. However before you go ahead and book a surgeon for a procedure take a look at the tips on making your plastic surgery a success.

There are many different surgeons and doctors out there and you should speak to several before making a decision about opting for a plastic surgery. Make sure that your consultation is in depth and you will feel happy with the professional that you have chosen. If you do not do this you could find that you have not chosen the very best to perform your procedure. This could then lead to you having some very disappointing results which could be very costly to put right.

  • Make sure that you ask plenty of questions about the procedure that you are about to undergo before your plastic surgery.

This will help you to feel at ease with what will be happening to you when you go under the knife. You should also make sure that you find out all about the risks associated with procedure you are interested in. You might also want to ask to speak to previous patients and to see examples of your surgeons work. All good surgeons will encourage you to ask questions and give you the time that you need to ensure that you are totally happy with them.

Never go to someone who is not a professional in the procedural field that you are interested in for your plastic surgery. For example you may have a wonderful cosmetic dentist who has worked wonders with your teeth. Today many dentists are offering their patients cosmetic skin treatments, however not all of them are experts in this field. Always choose a specialist who has many years of experience in the procedure that you are looking into.

  • Always check your surgeon's qualifications.

As surgical procedures or a plastic surgery to improve the body are so popular right now there are many unscrupulous people out there who are not fully qualified in the area they work in. These are the people who want to make money on the growing trend for surgical procedures to enhance appearance.

Do not assume that just because a surgeon has a practise that he or she is a specialist. Make sure that you do your homework and you will be choosing a surgeon that is highly regarded.

  • Be realistic with what you expect to see after you have had your surgical procedure.

Remember that you will not be able to create an entirely new you after one surgical procedure or your plastic surgery. If you want to look a certain way you will need to explain this to your surgeon and he or she will go through your options. You should also bear in mind that cosmetic surgery will only alter your outside. It can't suddenly make you feel amazing, although it will give you a huge boost and it can't improve your life. Many people assume that surgery is the answer to all of their problems, when in actual fact it can just enhance their appearance.

  • Never rush into surgery when you are going through some kind of crisis or trauma in your life.

This is a very common knee-jerk reaction that many people will have to a divorce, a death or other upsetting event. If you are going through a difficult time in your life you need to wait until the dust has settled before making a decision on surgery. By doing this you can be sure that you are making the right decision by altering your appearance surgically.

Be aware that you will have to spend an amount of time in recovery after you have had a plastic surgery. While the time it will take to recover will vary between people and procedures you should not expect life to return to normal the day after you come out of hospital. Give yourself the right time to recover and your results will be much better.

By taking notice of these tips on making your plastic surgery a success you will be happy with the results. Never rush into surgeon and always spend time choosing your specialist carefully. Procedures like this can be life altering and they should never be undertaken lightly or on a whim.
